Activities
The Barony of Carraig Ban is alive and well. Members have been attending many events as well as our 35 year event in June. Many awards were given at the Rose Tourney by our King EikBrandr and our Queen Runa to our Barony members.
A big HOOBAH to all who helped out with the many responsibilities that comes with running an event. It could not be done with out a loyal and hardworking group.
We received a Baronial gift from the Barony of Castel Rouge of aprons for our cooks, a basket from the Barony of Shattered Crystal, and an IOU scroll from the Shire of Foxvale.
Our entertainment at feast was enjoyable, the surprise at feast for Baron Faustino, the song from Master Aleksander Vasilyevich Lev and our own Baron Aleid Van Groningen, and from our outgoing Bard of the Keep Lady Gwendolyn Merch Llewelyn. Baron Aleid Van Groningen won the title of Bard of the Keep until the next competition.
We had 10 merchants, 118 people attend, 26 tents of overnight campers, and 53 guests at feast.

Baroness Winefred Yseult, Baron Rory O’Tomriar, Baron Aleid Van Groningen, and Lady Epona Brodin received the first ever baronial “Award of the Keep” for service to the barony.
A Note from the Baron
Greetings All,
It is hard to believe that it has been 6 months already since we were invested. There were many goals I had set for myself and the Barony, and many of them have been accomplished if only partially.
Our outlook for the future: I think our future looks very bright. The NIU group is a blessing and continues to grow. We are creating a canton in our northeast, and maybe someday one in our southwest. Also there maybe more land to be gained in the west. Dixon? I look forward to our first installment of our Barony's history from Baroness Winifred. I also will continue to work on a co-event with Ayreton. One thing that I want to see get done is a revisement of the Baronial Bylaws, or if none exists, the creation of such. Even though we have hit a few bumps along the way, I see the Barony only going in one direction and that is up. I invite all to come, enjoy, and help make this happen.

Is There Still A Barony of Carraig Ban?
After discussing the polling results with the crown during the All Souls event hosted by The Vanished Woods located in Roselle IL, the answer is a resounding yes and Hubah!
Aleid (Current Baron) and Winifred (original Baroness -- acting in place of our current Baroness Sean) spoke to their royal majesties Ullar and Annaliese to explain that our numbers and polling have been a bit confused as many of our members have moved from our borders but still participate in our group.
The Barony of Carrig Ban made a favorable showing even with a majestic slip of the tongue with regards to “The Barony of Northshield” and our pardons to the Northshield crown who were also in attendance. All is right with the Barony of Carraig Ban.
The Barony invested our new Baron Faustino ska Stan and Baroness Katherine ska Lova at 12th Night held at Tree Girt Sea this past January 17th, 2009.

Greetings to All,
I think 12th Night was a historic night for our Barony. With our elevation, Aleid being made Baron of the Court, and "The Boys" getting there AOA's, it was a night to remember. We would like to thank Aleid and Winifred for their hard work on our court garb. We also would like to thank all of those in the Honor Guard, Uspaig for his work on the Baronial Chairs, and everyone else who helped make this happen. I see the future full of oppertunities and growth. It is our hope that the NIU group continues to grow, for without the young the dream dies with us. The Barony is renewing the treaty with Illiton and Shattered Crystal at Rites of Spring. We also will try to coautocrat an event with the Midlands newest baroney Ayreton. Fall Crown 2010? The future holds many possibilities for our Barony, and we look forward to sharing them with you.

Fighter Practice—Every Sunday from 5pm to 8pm @ (**) except on the 1st Sunday when it is 3 hours (2pm to 5pm) earlier time is to accommodate the Sunday meeting.
Next Sunday Pot Luck to be on March 1st at Epona's.
